Online shopping affinity
Identify areas where people are most likely to purchase products and services online.
The online shopping affinity index is a GeoX composite index complementing our traditional sociodemographic and purchasing power data. E-commerce now makes up a very significant portion of the consumer economy. People buy every type of product online ranging from basics such as groceries, clothing and electronics all to niche products and even cars. This alternative new indicator was created measuring proclivity to consume online in response to the prominence of E-commerce.
Spatial data to understand online commerce
The online shopping affinity index was primarily created for e-commerce companies, online shops, market analysts and researchers. It is useful for anyone interested in spatial distribution of people who buy products and services online.
Data
The index provides a normalized score for the adult population of a territorial unit that shows online shopping affinity and can be used for market analysis as a standalone indicator or in combination with other data.
The online shopping affinity index was created using a combination of data from the Census 2022, as well as GeoX’s own indicators from the 100×100 geospatial database. The data was cross-referenced and validated with GeoX’s E-commerce POI maps as well as the delivery areas of the largest grocery stores.
